INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

SDP have an ongoing policy of utilising leading edge technology. Our IT department have a regular programme of updating both software and hardware systems.

We have a local area network (linux server) serving all members of staff from Directors through to juniors. The office in Christchurch is connected to our head office in St Albans by a secure VPN which allows file transfer and access to our bespoke company database. Our CAD workstations run up to date software packages on Microsoft operating systems, connected to an Oce TCS400 A0 colour ink jet plan plotter. We also have an A0 colour scanner allowing us to print multiple copies in seconds, and also scan drawings to to digital files. Our Southern office is also equipped with A0 colour plotting, and A0 mono laser plotting facilities. Our staff are highly competant with CAD with many years experience between them. In fact they are often in demand for help and advice, to our clients and colleagues.

All of our staff have access to e-mail, and our server distributes mail directly to their desks. Distribution of drawings to clients and other consultants is now mainly via e-mail and enables us to provide a speedy service. Internet access is available, via 8Mb ADSL..

Our engineers use leading software from CADS, PDS and WinDes Microdrainage to aid their structural and civil engineering design and drawing production.
